Abstract

The year 2004 marked the debut of the Times Higher Education Supplement(THES), an educational supplement of the mainstream newspaper The Times of London. It was an auspicious year for University of Malaya for it managed to get into the Top 200 World Class Universities listing. There are over 30,000 universities in the whole world and University of Malaya ranked number 89. In 2005, the same ranking placed University of Malaya at number 45 in the discipline of the arts and humanities. This is a feat that confirms the university’s long tradition of excellence in the arts and humanities.

Tahun 2004 menandakan debut Times Higher Education Supplement (THES), makalah tambahan dari akhbar arus perdana The Times of London. Ini adalah tahun yang menguntungkan bagi Universiti Malaya kerana berjaya masuk dalam senarai 200 Universiti Terbaik Dunia. Terdapat lebih daripada 30,000 universiti di seluruh dunia dan Universiti Malaya berada di kedudukan 89. Pada tahun 2005, kedudukan yang sama meletakkan Universiti Malaya di kedudukan 45 dalam bidang seni dan kemanusiaan. Ini adalah prestasi yang mengesahkan tradisi cemerlang universiti dalam bidang seni dan kemanusiaan.
