Abstract
Sinclair, Jacka and Cunningham describes the trend toward privatization, or deregulation, of broadcasting systems that has taken place in Europe in the mid 1970s as part of a broader movement towards a 'post-Fordist’ mode of economic and political organization (1995). Globalization, trade liberalization, increased national and international competitiveness, and a decline in the role of the state as a provider of goods and services were cited as the four main constituents of post-Fordism or late capitalism.
