Abstract

This study aimed to examine the impact of administrative empowerment on schools in Dhofar Governorate, Sultanate of Oman, by exploring its role in enhancing administrative and educational performance, improving staff efficiency, and strengthening the overall school environment. The study also sought to identify the effects of administrative empowerment on students, parents, and the local community. A qualitative research approach was adopted as the most suitable method for achieving the study objectives and addressing its research questions. Semi-structured interviews were used as the primary data collection instrument. The interviews were conducted with a purposive sample of five male and female school principals from selected schools in Dhofar Governorate, representing the target population of the study. The findings revealed that administrative empowerment has a significant positive impact on the performance of school leaders and staff by promoting professional confidence, encouraging participation in decision-making, and strengthening teamwork and collaboration. These factors contributed to improving institutional performance, increasing productivity, and enhancing overall efficiency within schools. The results also indicated that administrative empowerment positively influenced relationships between schools, students, and parents, while increasing satisfaction with the educational services provided. In addition, the study highlighted the importance of effective communication and stronger partnerships between schools and the local community in creating a more supportive and interactive educational environment. The findings further emphasized that a supportive organizational climate encouraging innovation and professional motivation can contribute to the continuous improvement of educational outcomes in Omani schools. The study recommended that educational authorities in Dhofar schools adopt more effective delegation practices and grant greater authority to school leaders and staff. It also recommended strengthening communication and collaboration with parents and the wider community, while promoting community participation in school activities and initiatives to support educational development and achieve Oman’s future educational vision and sustainable development goals.
