Abstract

The 20th century had witnessed the spread and development of Chinese classical culture in Malaya. During the past century the Chinese classical culture was rooted and developed in Malaya through four main avenues, namely Chinese language publications, Chinese language schools, translated works of Chinese classical novels and the traditional opera. Entering the 21st century, with the increasing interaction between China and Malaysia in trading and economic aspects, the Chinese interaction between contemporary civilization and Malay modern culture would remain amicable and thus promote harmonious coexistence.
