HISTORY
Jurnal Fiqh (JF) (e-ISSN: 2289-7518 | Print ISSN: 1823-089X) is a prestigious open-access, double-blind peer-reviewed journal established in 2004 by the Department of Fiqh and Usul, Academy of Islamic Studies, Universiti Malaya (UM), Malaysia. Dedicated to advancing research in Islamic jurisprudence, JF provides a platform for rigorous academic discourse on contemporary fiqh and Usul al-Fiqh.
The journal owes much of its growth to the late Professor Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Mahmood Zuhdi Hj. Ab. Majid, whose contributions were instrumental in its success. Its founding editorial team comprised Assoc. Prof. Dr. Idris Awang as Chief Editor, with Dr. Luqman Abdullah serving as Managing Editor.
The journal publishes two issues annually (June and December) under a single volume per year since 2020, maintaining high standards of academic integrity, originality, and scholarly value. Since its inception, Jurnal Fiqh (JF) has consistently attracted contributions from renowned scholars, researchers, and practitioners both locally and internationally.
Jurnal Fiqh (JF) is indexed in MyCite (Malaysian Citation Index), Index Islamicus, Crossref, EBSCO, WorldCat, Google Scholar, and other international abstracting and indexing databases, reflecting its academic recognition and global reach. The journal has also received national accreditation and is recognized by Malaysia’s Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) under the Malaysian Journal Management System (MyJurnal).
The journal accepts submissions and publishes articles in Bahasa Malaysia, English, and Arabic, making it accessible to a broad spectrum of readers and contributors from diverse linguistic backgrounds. The journal welcomes both theoretical and applied research, particularly those that address contemporary challenges through the lens of Islamic jurisprudence. With its strong academic foundation, diverse language selection, and international recognition, Jurnal Fiqh (JF) continues to contribute significantly to the development and dissemination of knowledge in the field of contemporary fiqh and Usul Fiqh issues.
